Ofiary Grudnia ’70 są w naszej pamięci!
Wobec pogarszającej się sytuacji ekonomicznej, decyzja komunistycznych władz PRL o drastycznych podwyżkach cen wywołała falę strajków. Grudzień ’70 najmocniej kojarzony jest z wydarzeniami, jakie miały miejsce na Wybrzeżu. Z Gdańska i innych miast bunt „rozlał się” na cały kraj i trwał do kwietnia 1971 r.

W tym roku 17 grudnia przypada 54. rocznica buntu, podczas którego mieszkańcy Wybrzeża domagali się traktowania z godnością.

W Gdańsku, Gdyni, Szczecinie i Elblągu zginęły 44 osoby, a ponad tysiąc zostało rannych. W samym Szczecinie zginęło szesnaście osób, a ponad sto zostało rannych. Na placu przed ówczesną Komendą Wojewódzką Milicji Obywatelskiej i w jej pobliżu od kul wojska i policji zginęło aż dwanaście osób.

December 17th is the 54th anniversary of December ’70 – we remember!
The victims of December ’70 are in our memory!
In view of the worsening economic situation, the decision of the communist authorities of the Polish People’s Republic to drastically increase prices caused a wave of strikes. December ’70 is most strongly associated with the events that took place on the Coast. From Gdańsk and other cities, the revolt “spread” throughout the country and lasted until April 1971.
This year 17 December marks the 54th anniversary of the revolt during which the people of the Coast demanded to be treated with dignity. Forty-four people were killed and more than a thousand injured in Gdańsk, Gdynia, Szczecin and Elbląg. In Szczecin alone, there were sixteen fatalities and more than a hundred were wounded. As many as twelve people were killed by army and police bullets in the square in front of the then Provincial Civic Militia Headquarters and in its vicinity.
