Warsaw, August 15, 2025 – The Polish capital today became the center of patriotic celebrations commemorating the 105th anniversary of Poland’s victory in the 1920 Battle of Warsaw.

This historic battle, known as the “Miracle on the Vistula,” saved the independence of the Republic of Poland and halted the advance of the Bolshevik Revolution into Western Europe.

Today’s celebrations began with a solemn Holy Mass at the Field Cathedral of the Polish Armed Forces, celebrated with the intention of the Homeland.

The service was attended by the highest-ranking state officials, including the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, and his wife, Marta Nawrocka, as well as representatives of the armed forces, veterans, and guests from Poland and abroad.

At the invitation of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, the Polish Sue Association from Great Britain, represented by its president, Iwona Golińska, is also participating in the ceremonies.

“We are proud to be participating in such an important event and sincerely thank the Chancellery of the President for this honorable invitation,”

– emphasized President Golińska.

The focal point of the celebration was a grand military parade on Ujazdowskie Avenue.

Under the slogan “Thank you for your service,” over 4,000 soldiers from all branches of the Polish Armed Forces were marching today. 300 vehicles and combat aircraft were on the streets of Warsaw, and nearly 50 aircraft are in the air.

A new feature of this year’s celebrations is a naval parade – simultaneously, the Polish Navy is presenting its warships in the waters of the Bay of Gdańsk, near the Hel Peninsula.

“We want to show that the Polish Armed Forces are undergoing a dynamic transformation”

– emphasized General Wiesław Kukuła, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces.

In addition to Polish soldiers, approximately 200 military personnel from allied countries, including the USA, Great Britain, France, and Romania, participated in the parade.

Spectators could also see representatives of the Multinational Division Northeast from Elbląg and Eurocorps from Strasbourg.

Among the military equipment on display were Leopard, K2, and Abrams tanks, Borsuk and Rosomak fighting vehicles, Patriot systems, HIMARS launchers, as well as helicopters and combat aircraft.

Polish Army Day is part of the broader program of commemorations of the Battle of Warsaw.

On Thursday, a memorial service and roll call were held at the Monument to the Fallen of 1920 at the Powązki Military Cemetery.

On Friday, a solemn mass was held at the Field Cathedral of the Polish Army, followed by a changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Polish Armed Forces Day was established in 1923 and celebrated until 1947. During the communist era, it was replaced by a different date, but since 1992, it has returned to the national calendar as a permanent fixture.

This day commemorates the courage and sacrifice of Polish soldiers who stood in defense of the freedom of their country and all of Europe in 1920.

Warszawa świętuje Święto Wojska Polskiego – hołd bohaterom Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 roku

Warszawa, 15 sierpnia 2025 r. – Stolica Polski stała się dziś centrum patriotycznych uroczystości, upamiętniających 105. rocznicę zwycięskiej dla Polski Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 roku.

To historyczne starcie, określane mianem „Cudu nad Wisłą”, ocaliło niepodległość Rzeczypospolitej i powstrzymało pochód rewolucji bolszewickiej na Zachód Europy.

Dzisiejsze obchody rozpoczęły się uroczystą Mszą Świętą w Katedrze Polowej Wojska Polskiego, sprawowaną w intencji Ojczyzny.

W liturgii uczestniczyli najwyżsi przedstawiciele władz państwowych, w tym Prezydent RP Karol Nawrocki wraz z Małżonką, Martą Nawrocką, a także reprezentanci sił zbrojnych, weterani oraz goście z kraju i zagranicy.

Na zaproszenie Kancelarii Prezydenta RP w uroczystościach uczestniczyło także Stowarzyszenie Polish Sue z Wielkiej Brytanii, reprezentowane przez prezes Iwonę Golińską.

„Jesteśmy dumni z możliwości udziału w tak ważnym wydarzeniu i serdecznie dziękujemy Kancelarii Prezydenta za to zaszczytne zaproszenie”

– podkreśla prezes Golińska.

Centralnym punktem Święta była wielka defilada wojskowa w Alejach Ujazdowskich. Pod hasłem „Dziękujemy za Waszą Służbę” maszerowało dziś ponad 4 tysiące żołnierzy wszystkich rodzajów sił zbrojnych RP.

Na warszawskich ulicach pojawiło się 300 pojazdów i maszyn bojowych, a w powietrzu – blisko 50 statków powietrznych.

Nowością tegorocznych obchodów jest parada morska – równolegle na wodach Zatoki Gdańskiej, w rejonie Helu, Marynarka Wojenna RP prezentuje swoje okręty bojowe.

– podkreśla gen. Wiesław Kukuła, Szef Sztabu Generalnego Wojska Polskiego.

Obok polskich żołnierzy w defiladzie uczestniczyło ok. 200 wojskowych z państw sojuszniczych, m.in. USA, Wielkiej Brytanii, Francji i Rumunii. Widzowie mogli zobaczyć także przedstawicieli Wielonarodowej Dywizji Północny-Wschód z Elbląga i Eurokorpusu ze Strasburga.

Wśród sprzętu wojskowego uwagę przyciągają czołgi Leopard, K2 i Abrams, bojowe wozy Borsuk i Rosomak, systemy Patriot, wyrzutnie HIMARS, a także śmigłowce i samoloty bojowe.

Święto Wojska Polskiego wpisuje się w szerszy program obchodów rocznicy Bitwy Warszawskiej.

Już w czwartek odbył się capstrzyk i apel pamięci przy Pomniku Poległych w 1920 roku na Cmentarzu Wojskowym na Powązkach.

W piątek miała miejsce uroczysta msza w Katedrze Polowej WP, a następnie zmiana posterunku honorowego przy Grobie Nieznanego Żołnierza.

Święto Wojska Polskiego ustanowiono w 1923 roku i obchodzono je do 1947 roku.

W czasach PRL zastąpiono je inną datą, jednak od 1992 roku znów wróciło na stałe do kalendarza narodowych uroczystości.

Dzień ten przypomina o odwadze i poświęceniu polskich żołnierzy, którzy w 1920 roku stanęli w obronie wolności swojego kraju i całej Europy.
