The story of the Polish Navy during the Second World War continues to inspire – both in Poland and in the United Kingdom.
We are delighted to share that a new exhibition dedicated to the destroyer ORP Piorun and the heroic defence of Clydebank during the Luftwaffe raids in 1941 has just been opened at the Clydebank Library.

Honouring the heroes
Next to the memorial plaque – unveiled in 1994 – that commemorates the Polish sailors’ role in defending Clydebank, a new exhibition has now been created by THE (POLISH) COMBATANTS MEMORIAL GROUP in SCOTLAND.
On 15 August 2025, in the Room of Remembrance, a special exhibition was unveiled, with its centrepiece being a beautifully restored model of ORP Piorun.
A family link to history
The project was initiated and carried out by Tony Kozlowski, John Lassa and Kazik Wróblewski, whose families are directly connected to Polish sailors who served during the war.
Thanks to their dedication, the history of the Polish Navy continues to live on and to be shared with future generations.
Polish-Sottish cooperation in remembrance
Our association Polish Sue, actively engaged in preserving the memory of the Polish Navy and its role in the Allied victory, has also been working with The Combatants Group. Recently, we had the honour to welcome their representative, Mr John Lassa, at our commemoration event – ORP Błyskawica Days at the Battle of Britain Bunker.
This symbolic meeting connected tradition of remembrance – the story of ORP Piorun and that of ORP Błyskawica, both ships playing a key role in the defence of Britain at sea as well as Polish Pilots defending Britain in the air.
Thank you for keeping the memory alive!
The Clydebank exhibition is another strong example of how Polish and Scottish memory remains intertwined.
The crew of ORP Piorun will always stand as a symbol of bravery, solidarity and the lasting friendship between our nations.

Pamięć o ORP Piorun w Clydebank – nowa wystawa w Szkocji.
Historia polskich marynarzy II wojny światowej nadal żyje i inspiruje – zarówno w Polsce, jak i w Wielkiej Brytanii.
Z radością informujemy, że w Miejskiej Bibliotece w Clydebank powstała nowa wystawa poświęcona niszczycielowi ORP Piorun oraz bohaterskiej obronie miasta podczas niemieckich nalotów w 1941 r.
Po obronie miasta Clydebank pisaliśmy tutaj :
15 sierpnia 2025 r., w tzw. Pokoju Pamięci (Room of Remembrance), uroczyście odsłonięto wystawę, której centralnym punktem jest pieczołowicie odrestaurowany model ORP Piorun.
Rodzinna pamięć o marynarzach
Inicjatorami i realizatorami przedsięwzięcia są Tony Kozlowski, John Lassa i Kazik Wróblewski – osoby rodzinnie związane z polskimi marynarzami, którzy walczyli na Zachodzie w latach 1939–1945.
To dzięki ich pasji i determinacji historia polskiego okrętu wojennego wciąż pozostaje żywa w świadomości kolejnych pokoleń.
Współpraca polsko-szkocka
Stowarzyszenie Polish Sue, od lat zaangażowane w pielęgnowanie pamięci o polskich siłach morskich, również współpracuje z The Combatants Group.
Niedawno mieliśmy zaszczyt gościć przedstawiciela grupy, pana Johna Lasse, podczas naszych uroczystości Dni ORP Błyskawica w Battle of Britain Bunker.
To symboliczne spotkanie połączyło tradycję pamięci – historię ORP Piorun i ORP Błyskawica, obu okrętów, które odegrały kluczową rolę w obronie Wielkiej Brytanii na morzu, a także polskich pilotów broniących jej w powietrzu.
Dziękujemy za pamięć!
Ekspozycja w Clydebank jest kolejnym dowodem na to, jak silne są więzi pamięci między Polakami i Szkotami. Bohaterska załoga ORP Piorun pozostaje symbolem odwagi, solidarności i przyjaźni obu narodów.
