President Karol Nawrocki’s visit to Lithuania had historical, spiritual, and political dimensions.

The first stop was prayer at the Chapel of Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn – one of the most important places of Marian devotion for Poles and Lithuanians.

Before the Blessed Virgin Mary “who shines at the Gate of Dawn,” the President prayed for the homeland and paid tribute to the Poles of the Vilnius Region who sacrificed their lives for freedom during the war and occupation.

“Remembering the heroes of the Vilnius Region is our duty. They, in times of trial, testified to their steadfastness and love for their homeland. Poland will never forget their sacrifice,”

– the President emphasized.

The official portion of the visit began at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius, where Karol Nawrocki met with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda.

Discussions focused on regional security cooperation, threats from Russia, and cooperation within NATO and the European Union. The situation and rights of the Polish minority in Lithuania were also important topics.

The next item on the agenda was a meeting with the Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas, Saulius Skvernelis.

The talks emphasized the importance of close cooperation between the parliaments of both countries and unity in addressing the challenges facing Central and Eastern Europe.

President Nawrocki’s visit also had a social dimension. The President met with representatives of the Polish community living in Lithuania, thanking them for cultivating Polish culture, language, and historical memory.

He emphasized that the presence of Poles in the Vilnius region is a lasting bridge between the two nations.

A highlight of the visit was the laying of flowers at the Rasos Cemetery in Vilnius – next to the Mausoleum of the Mother and the Sacred Heart of the Son and the Chapel of the January Uprising Insurgents.

The President paid tribute to the soldiers and insurgents who have made their mark on the history of Poland and Lithuania as witnesses to the unwavering fight for freedom.

The Vilnius Region is deeply rooted in Polish history and culture, a place of heroism for Home Army soldiers and sacrifices made for independence.

The Gate of Dawn is a symbol of faith and the shared religious heritage of Poles and Lithuanians.

Lithuania is today one of Poland’s key allies in the region. Cooperation within NATO and shared concerns for security in the face of Russian threats give this visit a strategic dimension.

President Karol Nawrocki’s visit to Vilnius combined the memory of Polish heroes, the spiritual legacy of the Gate of Dawn, and the strategic partnership with Lithuania. It was an expression of gratitude for the past and responsibility for the future of both nations.

Prezydent Karol Nawrocki w Wilnie – modlitwa w Ostrej Bramie, spotkania z władzami Litwy i hołd bohaterom Wileńszczyzny.

Prezydent Karol Nawrocki odbył wizytę na Litwie, która miała wymiar historyczny, duchowy i polityczny. Jej pierwszym punktem była modlitwa w Kaplicy Matki Bożej Ostrobramskiej – jednym z najważniejszych miejsc kultu maryjnego dla Polaków i Litwinów. Przed obliczem Matki Najświętszej „co w Ostrej świeci Bramie” Prezydent modlił się w intencji Ojczyzny i oddał hołd Polakom z Wileńszczyzny, którzy w czasach wojny i okupacji poświęcili życie za wolność.

“Pamięć o bohaterach z Wileńszczyzny jest naszym obowiązkiem. To oni, w chwilach próby, dawali świadectwo niezłomności i miłości do Ojczyzny. Polska nigdy nie zapomni o ich ofierze.”

 – podkreślił Prezydent.

Oficjalna część wizyty rozpoczęła się w Pałacu Prezydenckim w Wilnie, gdzie Karol Nawrocki spotkał się z Prezydentem Litwy Gitanasem Nausėdą.

Rozmowy dotyczyły współpracy w zakresie bezpieczeństwa regionalnego, zagrożeń ze strony Rosji, a także współdziałania w ramach NATO i Unii Europejskiej. Ważnym tematem była również sytuacja i prawa polskiej mniejszości na Litwie.

Kolejnym punktem programu było spotkanie z przewodniczącym litewskiego Sejmu, Sauliusem Skvernelisem. W rozmowach podkreślano znaczenie ścisłej współpracy parlamentów obu krajów i jedności wobec wyzwań stojących przed Europą Środkowo-Wschodnią.

Wizyta Prezydenta Nawrockiego miała także wymiar społeczny. Prezydent spotkał się z przedstawicielami polskiej społeczności mieszkającej na Litwie, dziękując im za pielęgnowanie polskiej kultury, języka i pamięci historycznej. Jak podkreślił, obecność Polaków na Wileńszczyźnie jest trwałym pomostem łączącym oba narody.

Szczególnym punktem wizyty było złożenie kwiatów na wileńskim Cmentarzu na Rossie – przy Mauzoleum Matki i Serca Syna oraz w Kaplicy Powstańców Styczniowych. Prezydent oddał hołd żołnierzom i powstańcom, którzy zapisali się na kartach historii Polski i Litwy jako świadkowie niezłomnej walki o wolność.  

Wileńszczyzna to ziemia głęboko zakorzeniona w polskiej historii i kulturze, miejsce bohaterstwa żołnierzy AK i ofiar poniesionych za niepodległość.

Ostra Brama to symbol wiary i wspólnego dziedzictwa religijnego Polaków i Litwinów.

Litwa jest dziś jednym z kluczowych sojuszników Polski w regionie. Współpraca w ramach NATO oraz wspólna troska o bezpieczeństwo w obliczu rosyjskich zagrożeń nadają tej wizycie strategiczny wymiar.

Wizyta Prezydenta Karola Nawrockiego w Wilnie połączyła pamięć o polskich bohaterach, duchowe dziedzictwo Ostrej Bramy oraz strategiczne partnerstwo z Litwą.

Była wyrazem wdzięczności wobec przeszłości i odpowiedzialności za przyszłość obu narodów.
