On Saturday, 29 August 2026, the 65th Annual Commemoration of Fallen Polish Airmen took place at the Polish Air Force Memorial in Northolt.

The ceremony honoured the courage, sacrifice and service of the Polish Airmen who fought alongside the RAF during the Second World War, from 1940 to 1945.

Wreaths were laid by civil and military representatives of Poland, Great Britain and other countries. Veterans and descendants also laid wreaths in memory of each Polish squadron that flew alongside the RAF during the war.

The replica Standard of the Polish Air Force was paraded alongside the Silk Ensign of the RAF, while the moving Roll-Call of the Fallen was performed by Officer Cadets from the Polish Air Force University in Dęblin.

Among those taking part was Iwona Golińska, President of Polish Sue and Secretary of the Council of Polonia and Poles Abroad.

For Iwona and the Goliński family, the commemoration carried particular personal significance. Just recently, the Goliński family was honoured in Dęblin, where a commemorative plaque was unveiled in memory of three members of the family who served in the Polish Air Force in Britain during the Second World War.

Despite the rainy weather, the ceremony was attended by many representatives of the Polish and British communities, military delegations, families of fallen airmen and veterans — including Marian Słomka, a Second World War veteran and former RAF engineer, now over 100 years old.

We remember those who gave everything for freedom.

We honour their sacrifice. We preserve their memory. We pass their legacy to future generations.
