As every year, representatives of the Polish Sue Association took part in the official commemorations of the anniversary of the Katyn Massacre, held at the Katyn Memorial at Gunnersbury Cemetery in London.

The ceremony was organised by the Stowarzyszenie Polskich Kombatantów, (Polish Combatants in the UK) which for decades has safeguarded the memory of this tragic chapter in Polish history.

It is both a great honour and a moral duty for us to pay tribute to the thousands of Polish officers and members of the intelligentsia who were murdered by the Soviet regime in the Katyn Massacre.

A symbol of remembrance on British soil
The Katyn Memorial at Gunnersbury holds a unique place in history—it was the first monument in the world dedicated to the victims of Katyn.
For decades, it has stood not only as a site of reflection, but also as a powerful symbol of the struggle for historical truth, long denied and distorted by the Soviet authorities.

The shared prayer, moments of silence, and the presence of representatives of the Polish community, veterans’ organisations, and public institutions highlighted the importance of this anniversary.
Here, on British soil, the memory of Polish heroes continues to live on—passed from one generation to the next.

Memory that carries responsibility
The candle of remembrance we lit was not only a gesture of tribute, but also a symbol of continuity and responsibility.
Katyn remains the largest Soviet crime committed against Polish officers—an act aimed at destroying the nation’s elite and weakening its future.
Today, in the face of ongoing challenges to historical truth, our presence at such commemorations carries even greater meaning.
It is a reminder that remembrance is not only about the past—it is a foundation for the future.

A shared duty to remember
Polish Sue’s participation in the Katyn commemorations reflects our wider mission: to build bridges of memory between Poland and the United Kingdom and to strengthen Polish identity among the diaspora.
🕯️ We remember. Honour to their memory.🇵🇱
